The Georgetown City Council approved more than $92 million in bond funding for various capital improvement projects throughout the city, including $49 million in funding for a new Customer Service Center, a city facility project expected to open in 2028.
The new Customer Service Center follows a 2023 facilities study that found Georgetown’s current government space is at or near full capacity. City projections estimate up to 448 additional employees over the next 15 years on top of the city’s more than 900 full-time employees, driving the need for new workspace and consolidated public-facing functions.
The new center will centralize multiple customer-facing departments to streamline service delivery and improve the resident experience. The facility is planned within the first phase of Southwestern University’s 560 development and is expected to total about 75,567 square feet, with preliminary concepts also noting retail and meeting space as well as the potential to add a data center to support growing IT needs.
The procurement process for the Customer Service Center is in the early stages. Construction is expected to begin in early October 2026 and conclude in March 2028. City officials expect to provide updates as design, procurement and project delivery milestones are finalized.
