
More federal money on the way to Texas soon!

Fort Bliss also is in line for an additional appropriation of $147.1 million in 2011 for the second incremental payment toward a hospital replacement.
At Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, the budget proposes $22.2 million in appropriations for the following projects:
- $16 million for a simulations center; and
- $6.2 million for a training aids center.
Proposed funding for Fort Hood near Killeen totals $145 million. Some of the projects there would include:
- $40 million for a battalion complex;
- $38 million for a brigade complex;
- $55 million for an unmanned aerial system hangar; and
- $4.3 million for company operations facilities.
At San Antonio's Lackland Air Force Base, the proposed budget amount is $138.36 million. Allocations include:
- $32 million for a basic military training (BMT) satellite classroom/dining facility;
- $5.5 million for a one-company fire station;
- $67.98 million for phase three of a recruit dormitory; and
- $21.8 million for a recruit/family in-processing and information center.
Additional funding of $162.5 million is also proposed for the second phase of the Ambulatory Care Center at Lackland.
Some other military construction spending outlined in the proposed budget includes $4 million for a C-130J Add/Alter flight simulator facility at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, $7 million for an upgrade to an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) maintenance hangar and funds for land purchases and training facilities at several Guard and Reserve facilities in the state.
