Sul Ross State University (SRSU) will spend $35.5 million to build a new multi-purpose building in Eagle Pass. Construction is expected to begin in March 2027.
The university will build the facility on a recently acquired 43-acre parcel of undeveloped land. The building sets the stage for SRSU to establish a new Eagle Pass campus. The multi-purpose building will be the first permanent facility for the independent four-year university campus.
Plans for the building will include a three-story, 40,000 square foot building. The structure will contain general instructional spaces, limited science labs, faculty offices and student support spaces.
Additional planned amenities include a welcome area, a library and vending areas throughout the building. The building is expected to provide several services, including UPD, mail service, facilities and IT support if a separate structure is not built as part of the campus vision’s first phase.
To further support operations, SRSU will install all necessary utilities, build roadways, two parking lots with approximately 420 spaces and outdoor and shaded gathering areas.
