Tarleton State University unveils updated master plan for Fort Worth campus

May 8, 2026

Tarleton State University released an updated Master Plan for its Fort Worth campus that will guide future development and support projected enrollment growth .

The Master Plan sets a framework for expanding academic programs, student life, research opportunities and community engagement on Tarleton State Fort Worth’s 80-acre campus along Chisholm Trail Parkway in Tarrant County. University leaders note the plan as a roadmap aligned with Tarleton State Forward 2030 and focused on meeting workforce and educational demand across the region. The plan also emphasizes walkability, community integration and sustainable design while reinforcing Tarleton State’s campus identity.

Planned elements are organized as phased development and include:

  • Expanded academic facilities to support program growth and innovation.
  • A centralized student center with dining and collaboration space.
  • On-campus student housing integrated with mixed-use development.
  • A welcome and alumni center designed as a campus gateway.
  • Recreation facilities and multipurpose fields.
  • Enhanced green space, pedestrian connectivity and campus identity features.
  • Infrastructure designed for sustainable, long-term expansion.

Tarleton State partnered with a national higher education planning firm and an engineering and design partner for campus planning, infrastructure analysis and long-range development strategies. The university expects the Master Plan to guide continued growth and capital planning for the Fort Worth campus across multiple phases.

University officials will provide updates to individual projects and initiatives in the future. A version of the master plan can be viewed on the university website. Tarleton State is expected to enroll more than 10,000 students by the end of the plan’s implementation.
