Pasadena councilmembers authorized a design contract for the renovation of the Texas city’s former city hall building.
City administrators and staff operate out of donated space in the top floor of a six-story office building. City officials moved there in 2017 after they were forced to evacuate parts of the old city hall and cracks began to appear in the foundation.
The design and engineering phase is expected to take four months after which the city will tender the construction contract. Officials estimate the extensive interior and exterior renovations will take about 12 months to complete at a cost of $5.3 million.
