The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) Board of Directors has appointed Rudy D. Garza as its 12th general manager. Garza will officially assume his duties on July 20.
With three decades of utility leadership experience under his belt, Garza will now help oversee the LCRA’s operations. To accept the new role, Garza resigned from his previous position as president and CEO with CPS Energy, concluding 14 years of service.
He held a variety of leadership roles while with the utility company, starting as vice president of external relations in 2012 before moving upward to senior vice president of distribution services and operations and later as chief customer and stakeholder engagement officer.
Prior to assuming his role with CPS Energy, Garza served the city of Corpus Christi between 2008 and 2012. He started as director of intergovernmental relations before moving on to become its assistant city manager. Garza also operated as the state advocacy director for a retail electric provider for nearly 12 years after assuming the role in 1996.
Garza has an MBA in management from the University of North Texas and a BS in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
