Idaho– Idaho has a shortage of doctors and many of its current medical professionals are nearing retirement age. The state’s Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee presented a 10-year plan to increase graduate medical education in the state through a public-private partnership.
The plan expands medical residency training to produce 2,000 residents compared to the current 520 residents the state produces annually. The state intends to finance the project and will cover a third of the cost.
