A global manufacturer of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies has chosen to establish its first U.S.-based manufacturing sites in Houston.

The Taiwanese-based company recently announced that it would be expanding its operations to the U.S., selecting Houston as its city of choice for its first two facilities. The manufacturer is currently working to finalize a lease for a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing space to produce its inventory-management technology.

While the company anticipates begin its operations with a three-year lease, it has plans to fully own its U.S.-based manufacturing process and operations within five years. Following the acquisition and development of its first manufacturing, the company will likely buy enough land for its future 100,000-square-foot factory and R&D center. Plans are in place to build clean-room space for both facilities.

Once established, the facilities would finish assembling materials sourced from Taiwan. While several western metropolitan areas were considered to host the company’s first manufacturing foray into the U.S., Houston was ultimately selected due to the availability of its port and requisite space
