The city of Denver will invest $120 million to renovate Boettcher Concert Hall after releasing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking a designer for the project. Construction is slated to begin in 2028.
The concert hall has been a Denver city landmark since its construction in 1993. However, the 46-year-old building is outdated and no longer meets modern buildings standards.
The renovation project will target essential building components, primarily fixing systems, finishes and equipment that operate beyond their useful life cycle. Once completed, the hall will have improved seating, acoustics and modified floor plans to enhance circulation, operational functionality, ADA accessibility and include an education component.
Plans include renovating the building to upgrade HVAC, fire and other life safety building systems. Additional work will incorporate updated interior finishes and upgrade the site’s data and infrastructure. The city may potentially expand the pavilion and add a west-side addition to activate the nearby sculpture park.
As part of its efforts to modernize the hall, Denver will upgrade critical technology infrastructure, including telecommunications, security and card access systems. The city will also renovate the roofing, repair or replace the exterior facade and upgrade electrical systems and lighting.
