Brian Haley has been appointed to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, according to Governor Abbott’s office. His term will expire on Aug. 31, 2027.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board oversees the Texas higher education system. Its leaders operate in tandem with the legislature, businesses and other stakeholders to achieve goals set out in the state’s higher education strategic plan.
Haley joins the board from the private sector where he currently works as a co-founder for a diversified asset management and real estate development firm. He brings 22 years of business experience to the role, starting as a customer experience specialist in 2004.
Prior to his most recent role, Haley served as vice president for a private equity firm. Other notable roles include serving the national finance director for the presidential campaigns of Governor Tim Pawlenty from 2009 to 2011 and Senator John McCain from 2007 to 2009.
Haley is the chair of the Texas Performing Arts leadership board and serves on the board of Texas Exes and the Blanton Museum of Art. In addition, he is a member of The University of Texas (UT) System Chancellor’s Executive Council and UT Austin’s Development Board.
He received a law degree from UT School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from UT Austin.
