A new bill, the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act of 2018, was introduced by a New York congresswoman that would create a commission focused on studying artificial intelligence and its impact on the country and national security. The AI legislation proposes an independent commission to examine artificial intelligence advances on a national level and provide recommendations on how to apply the technology to the federal government.

The commission’s recommendations range from crafting data standards to public-private partnership (P3) competitiveness and research opportunities, in addition to workforce recruitment incentives. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Armed Services.
