Wisconsin’s State Building Commission (SBC) has approved $125 million in infrastructure improvements across the state.
The action comes after some political tensions over spending. The commission rejected a $4.1 billion capital budget proposal in March, and the 2025-2027 capital budget is now pending a joint committee approval.
Gov. Tony Evers said this current funding approval will help alleviate a backlog of maintenance items. As a result, the SBC has not formally created or endorsed a State Building Program since 2019.
The current allowed expenditures include the fourth phase of the Milwaukee Readiness Center, housing Wisconsin Army National Guard training, upgrades to facilities at University of Wisconsin satellite campuses, 31 maintenance projects across several agencies and counties and shifting some of the funds to the Building Trust Fund to support planning for future projects.
