WilCo secures $131M to advance key transportation infrastructure projects

June 19, 2026

Williamson County (Wilco) has been selected to receive $131 million from the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) to support nine roadway projects and one trail project.

CAMPO will deliver the funding as part of its 2028-2031 Call for Projects after finalizing its recommendations during its June 8 meeting. After collecting requests from municipalities across Central Texas, the final list includes a total of $432 million for transportation projects, drawing from federal funding and local matches.

The awards will support the following projects:

  • Bagdad Road/CR 279 – $30.4 million.
  • Ronald Reagan Boulevard – Segment D2 – $21.7 million.
  • Chandler Road (FM 1660 Overpass) – $18 million.
  • Ronald Reagan Boulevard – Segment C1 – $14.9 million.
  • East Wilco Highway – Segment 6 – $13.7 million.
  • Corridor A2 – Segment 2 – $11.7 million.
  • Red Bud Lane – $6.4 million.
  • Seward Junction Loop – Northwest – $5.7 million.
  • Parmer Lane at SH 45 – $4.7 million.
  • Brushy Creek Regional Trail (BCRT) – $3.7 million.
  • CR 138 – $2.4 million.

The Bagdad Road/CR 279 project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2027. Plans include realigning and rebuilding the existing two-lane road to a three-lane roadway, featuring a center turn lane and shoulders. A 10-foot shared-use path will be built later to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians.

Funding will be split between two sections of the larger Ronald Reagan Boulevard project – segments D2 and C1. Each will contribute to the larger corridor vision, projected to be an eight-lane controlled-access roadway. Plans include building a separate two-lane road to serve as the southbound frontage road for the future roadway, switching the existing roadway to a northbound-only alternative with a divided median in the process. Construction in D2 will begin this summer, with C1 planned to break ground in fall.

Segment 6 of the East Wilco Highway project covers one portion of the vision to improve travel throughout the center of Williamson County. Various work along the corridor will include roadway expansion and construction.

The Corridor A2 project has a phased approach to construction. The county will build a new roadway to address safety, mobility and connectivity, with Segment 2 covering a 0.93-mile stretch from CR 406 to Highway 95.

The Red Bud Lane project will widen the roadway to a five-lane road. Details include building a center turn lane and no signal work. Construction is slated to begin in fall 2026.
