The City of Victoria has approved a $35 million renovation of its community center to transform the venue into a modern, multi-use facility capable of accommodating a broader range of events and activities.
The renovation project includes a new covered arena with 3,000 fixed seats, expanding to 4,500 for larger events. The venue will increase Victoria’s capacity to host both regional and local gatherings, as the arena is designed for rodeos, equestrian shows and concerts. The current dirt arena will be converted into a multi-use exhibition hall for sports, conferences and large-scale events, especially when paired with the adjacent dome.
The existing dome will be upgraded with a relocated stage, enhanced green room and new breakout rooms to support more diverse programming. Additional improvements include modernized HVAC systems, upgraded technology and general building enhancements.
The project also includes upgrades to the surrounding fairgrounds with plans to add RV hookups, permanent outdoor restrooms and improved site lighting. Once complete, the facility will be able to support multiple events at once and better accommodate livestock shows, festivals, conventions, weddings and other community gatherings.
An architect for the design of the project is expected to be hired in June 2025 to be followed by a six-month planning phase. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2026, with completion expected in February 2027.
