Texas DIR names Amy Kelley internal chief information officer

The Texas Department of Information Resources has added to its executive leadership team, naming Amy Kelley as the agency’s internal chief information officer (CIO). Kelley’s responsibilities will include overseeing the department’s IT and AI offices.  

Kelley steps into the role with over 25 years of IT experience, with nearly all of it rooted in the state of Texas. She most recently ran her own consulting practice, Kelley Secure Strategies, and previously served as director of information security for the Texas Municipal Retirement System.  

Her resume includes two long tenures as a public-sector CIO: seven years leading technology and information security for the City of Austin Employees’ Retirement System and a decade before that as CIO for the city of Bee Cave. Earlier in her career, she managed information systems at the health care company ONR. 

A University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business graduate, Kelley also serves on the board of SIM Austin, a professional organization for information management leaders. 

With Kelley’s hire, DIR’s leadership roster is now fully staffed heading into the fall.
