The Texarkana Regional Airport, Arkansas, has been selected to receive $11 million in federal funding to complete major upgrades as part of a larger $62 million initiative.
Congress recently passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act for 2026 into law, signing hundreds of billions in funding to support essential projects over the next year. Texarkana is slated as one of the bill’s beneficiaries, receiving additional compensation to build transportation infrastructure at the regional airport.
The project will widen the airport’s primary taxiway and build a new taxi lane. The upgraded infrastructure will effectively accommodate larger aircraft than the airport has historically been able to handle.
With wider taxiways and additional lanes, the airport will enable larger and heavier aircraft to operate, boosting local community economic development in the process.
Additionally, the expanded infrastructure would unlock a portion of airport property for further development. The airport will consider building hangars serving the primary runway, providing larger aircraft with a safe route for turning into their respective taxilane or hangar.
