Shane R. Saum has years of experience in both the private and public sectors. His years of experience working around the Texas legislature include working in the Texas House of Representatives for the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Veterans Commission and for the Governor of Texas. While working in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism Shane managed the Texas Enterprise Fund, the nation’s largest deal-closing grant, and the Texas Enterprise Zone Program. While working for the Governor he helped attract Fortune 500 companies who committed to creating more than 6,000 jobs and $400 million in capital investment to Texas and contracted more than $40 million. Being a Certified Texas Contract Manager, Shane R. Saum is an expert in the contracts and public procurement process in Texas.
More recently, Shane served as a liaison to federal, state, and local departments for the Texas Veterans Commission. There he coordinated communication with congressional and executive offices. He also served as the primary point of contact for the Texas Coordinating Council for Veterans Services, a legislative advisory council made up of 22 state agencies and departments. Shane has extensive knowledge of the legislative process and how state agencies operate.
After earning his Bachelors of Science in Education-Integrated Social Studies from Ohio University, Shane received his Master of Arts in Global History from San Diego State University. He then returned to Ohio University to pursue his Ph.D. in US Foreign Relations from Ohio University. Shane is all but dissertation.
