Joe Woelkers

Joe Woelkers joins Strategic Partnerships, Inc. with over four decades of senior executive experience in both the public and private sector. His extensive experience includes: 

  • Overseeing university administration (public and private at all levels including academic, health science centers and medical schools).
  • Building healthcare and physician business models for nonprofit and for-profit entities.
  • Establishing biotechnology startup companies.
  • Overseeing construction projects (totaling over $1 billion), including projects at hospitals, clinics, research facilities and office buildings.
  • Establishing private public partnerships in healthcare.
  • Securing grants and contracts at the federal and state level for universities and foundations totaling over $750 million. 

Woelkers gained broad expertise by holding key leadership positions with a number of the most prestigious institutions in the nation, including the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine, Johns Hopkins University/Hopkins Medicine, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the University of Florida, the University of Texas at Tyler, and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation. 

Woelkers has also held the position of President/CEO of a large private company establishing healthcare facilities internationally. Woelkers recently retired as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas at Tyler lecturing nationally and internationally on healthcare delivery. Woelkers has been an advisor to several of the nation’s top healthcare institutions as well as private companies. He has served on several non-profit boards. His accolades feature awards from the National Cancer Institute, United-Way of Baltimore and American College of Healthcare Executives. Woelkers proudly served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.
