Amy Swank most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC), the largest state-wide professional association dedicated to economic development. In her 19 plus years with the TEDC, Amy helped shaped the organization’s programs and services, including the launch of several new initiatives, and programs.
During her tenure with the TEDC, Amy implemented new and improved existing operating procedures and policies; and assisted the organization through a major growth period. In her role at the TEDC, Amy managed member services and programs, strategic communications, data collection and reporting, surveys, new member onboarding and orientation, and career development programs such as mentorship and leadership. She also managed and planned the TEDC’s conferences, including speaker recruitment, and coordination of sponsorships and exhibits. Amy also developed and managed the TEDC’s webinars and podcast. She oversaw management of the organization’s financial reports and budget, human resources, compliance and operations. She also managed three award programs and a professional certification program. Amy served as the key personnel for internal committees and the board of directors. Also in her role, she worked on the development of resources, publications, prepared presentations, newsletters, press releases and internal reports. Amy worked with the CEO and board of directors on the organization’s strategic plan, annual report and policies. She also provided research and speech writing support to the CEO. Amy managed a federal grant and other special projects. She was also instrumental in enhancing the organization’s website and member database.
Amy was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2023. She served as Vice President from 2014 to 2023 and Director of Operations from 2006 to 2014.
Prior to joining the staff of the TEDC in 2006, Amy was the Director of Operations for the Round Rock Economic Development Partnership. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute in 2007. Amy’s career includes 38 years of business experience, including seven years as a legal assistant and five years in banking and community relations. In 2023 Amy earned a Certificate in Non-profit Management from the University of San Diego. Amy was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is an avid Steeler fan. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2000, and now resides in Southern California.
