Jerome Greener has been selected to assume his responsibilities as director of the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO).
Originally pitched as Texas’ version of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), TREO was established in April to cut red tape, eliminate unnecessary regulations and create best practices in state agencies.
Greener currently serves as executive vice president of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, his second role with the organization after joining in 2020 as vice president of engagement. Prior to joining the foundation, he worked for Americans for Prosperity for nearly seven years as state director, super PAC senior advisor and director of operations. Greener earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of Dallas.
The office will guide agency efforts to remove ineffective rules, identify the regulatory costs burdening the public and provide best-practice guidelines for adopting new rules and performing essential analyses.
As part of TREO’s creation, the Department of Information Resources has been directed as a collaborator to publish a user-friendly website for the office. The site will enable Texans to search state rules, view subject matter and identify the types of activities or businesses TREO will regulate.
