The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has extended the deadline for Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program final proposals by 90 days.The extension changes the deadline from 365 days to 455 days after initial approval of proposals for projects to expand broadband access to unserved and underserved areas.The Department of Commerce said the extension was granted to allow for a detailed review of the program, which is expected to take a more technology-neutral approach, reduce regulations and mandates and streamline deployment.The extension is designed to give states and territories sufficient time to implement these changes in their final proposals, the Department of Commerce said.The BEAD program provides $42.45 billion in funding to achieve high-speed internet coverage throughout the U.S.
