Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Neyma Figueroa of San Antonio to the Texas Energy Reliability Council, or ERCOT as it is better known. The council works to ensure reliable energy for human needs and critical infrastructure across Texas and to improve coordination in the energy and electric sectors.

Figueroa serves as senior counsel at a major energy corporation, where she has extensive experience in the energy industry. She is active in the community through volunteer work with the Valero Texas Open, San Antonio Academy, and First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy from New Mexico State University and a Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law. Her appointment is seen as reflecting Texas’ continued focus on strengthening energy reliability through experienced industry leadership. She will serve for a term that continues at the governor’s discretion.

Figueroa will guide the state’s energy efforts and work to improve the state’s energy capacity, efficiency and delivery.
