NBU is planning a $52.9 million expansion of its North and South Kuehler wastewater treatment plant to combine two existing permits into one discharge permit with a single outfall location. The expansion will increase the facility’s total treatment capacity from its current 7 million gallons per day (MGD) to 9.4 MGD.

Design for the Sam McKenzie Water Reclamation Facility Expansion project is set to begin in fiscal year 2020. Construction is scheduled to start FY 2021 and conclude in FY 2022. Expansion of this facility will increase its treatment capacity from 2.5 MGD to 5 MGD and comply with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality threshold regulations.
