The city of Mansfield has kickstarted the design process for its upcoming $1 billion mixed-use community district. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
The district—known as The Reserve—will be built as part of a public-private partnership (P3) between the city and a local partner. A new City Hall is included as part of the 210-acre community, alongside extensive outdoor amenities and water features.
The project will include a half-mile canal loop as one of the most notable water features on the property. In addition, plans include building a boardwalk plaza and a 6-acre lake to supplement the district’s aesthetics and infrastructure.
Accessibility and mobility will be cornerstone design principles, focusing on ensuring the district becomes a walkable town center with ample connections blending hospitality, work and residential spaces. Features include an entire pedestrian network connecting to the town square, large green spaces and multiple neighborhoods.
The City Hall and public spaces will be the project’s priority. Future and ongoing efforts will establish The Reserve as a modern cultural center, including commercial development for hotels, restaurants, retail, entertainment, groceries, fitness, performing arts, offices, shopping, healthcare and residences.
Approximately $800 million in public and private funds has already been invested to propel development forward. Once completed, the city anticipates thousands of new jobs and a significant boost to the local economy.
