Debra Vermillion, the former Director of the Crash Data & Analysis (CDA) Section in the Traffic Operations Division of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has joined the Strategic Partnerships Inc. (SPI) Special Services Division as a senior consultant. With 32 years’ experience collecting and analyzing traffic crash data, Debra is one of the nation’s leading voices on utilizing comprehensive data to make roadways safer.
In her role as the CDA Section Director, she was responsible for the state’s Crash Records Information System (CRIS) and the coordination of the Texas Strategic Highway Safety Plan. Debra also previously managed TxDOT’s state and federal safety construction programs.
As a consultant with expert subject matter knowledge and executive leadership experience, as well as her close relationships across Texas and the nation, Vermillion will offer valuable insight, guidance and assistance to SPI’s clients. Specifically, she will provide specialized services for SPI, focusing on how county engineers, city engineers, Public Works departments, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and Regional Mobility Authorities can analyze and use Texas Crash Data, access data from the Crash Records Information System (CRIS), develop local strategic Highway Safety Plans and work with TxDOT to identify and rectify local safety issues.
Debra holds a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin.
