Dan Eden

An expert in both environmental and regulatory affairs, Dan Eden’s dual careers in both the public and private sectors provides him insight into the highly technical regulatory world that can be invaluable to SPI clients. Dan’s public-sector experience includes 30 years of environmental regulatory work at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), where he was deputy director of the Office of Permitting, Remediation and Registration. He was responsible for all air, water, and waste permitting and remediation activities in Texas, and has been able to use that knowledge and experience to assist corporate and municipal environmental managers solve their environmental regulatory problems. He also served as executive assistant to one of the TCEQ commissioners, and was involved in offering input on proposed rules, permits, and enforcement policies.

Dan also held numerous other management positions at TCEQ, including director of the Municipal Solid Waste Division, director of the Waste Policy and Regulations Division and director of the Industrial and Hazardous Waste Division. He was also budget director and planner of the Industrial and Hazardous Waste program.

Dan’s industry contact list is extensive after having served as president of the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials. Because of his expertise, he has testified before the U.S. Congress regarding solid waste and Superfund issues. He was also frequently asked to offer testimony before Texas legislative committee hearings regarding solid waste management, air quality, and water quality issues.

Dan is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
