SPI reports on more than $2.4 billion in 2008 congressional earmarks awarded to Texas
Texas congressional members secured approximately $2.4 billion in 2008 federal earmarks for 540 special projects. The earmarks provide funding throughout the state on a variety of projects with heavy concentrations in military and water. Award amounts range from $1,000 for the Estelline Springs Experimental Project to $156 million for construction at the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
