Joseph Stafford's career in higher education is both long and distinguished, making him a valuable asset to the SPI consulting team. He has served the higher education community for more than four decades in three states, most of those years in administration.
In Texas, Stafford has held administrative positions at The University of Texas at San Antonio as Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies and Senior Advisor for Academic Affairs. At The University of Texas System Administration, he served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Executive Associate for Planning and Academic Programs, Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Executive Director for Planning and Analysis. Stafford also held administrative positions at the University of Florida and the State University System of Florida and teaching positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
As an adjunct professor of Educational Administration at The University of Texas at Austin, Stafford taught doctoral level courses and served on doctoral committees. He has served on numerous site visiting teams for the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and on committees of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Beyond that, his higher education consulting experiences include Pennsylvania State University, Arizona State University, the University of Wyoming, Texas State Technical College, Kent State University Stark Campus, Ministry of Finance, Uzbekistan through U.S. Department of the Treasury and with the Texas International Education Consortium: Qatar Foundation, Science and Community Development, Qatar University, Presidents Court, United Arab Emirates, Office of the President, Senegal, Ministry of Higher Education, Morocco, Kuwait University, King Saud University, Al-Saleh University of Management and Technology, Yemen and with the World Bank: State Education Commission of the Peoples Republic of China.
Stafford earned his bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. from Purdue University.
