As a communications expert and governmental veteran, J. Lyn Carl brings more than 30 years of valuable experience to the SPI team and its clients.
Prior to joining SPI as a senior consultant, J. Lyn was the director of operations for Galllerywatch.com, a company that provides legislative information to subscribers. J. Lyn and her staff at Gallerywatch.com monitored House and Senate activities in the State of Texas, a job that continued years of contact with legislators, their staff and a variety of legislative processes.
A self-proclaimed "newshound," J. Lyn has spent decades at the convergence of government and those outside - or on the fringe - of the public sector.
J. Lyn's experience with governments is evenly spread - half of her career has been spent working from within the public sector; the other half working with the public sector from the outside. The result is an "insider" with the valuable perspective as an "outsider."
J. Lyn has held several positions within government - including stints as the Public Utility Commission of Texas' information specialist, and high-level jobs with state senators and local government agencies.
J. Lyn was an award-winning journalist prior to immersing herself in the public sector. She has worked as a reporter, editor and photographer at several newspapers in Texas, and even worked a short while teaching high school journalism and English.
J. Lyn graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, with a degree in Journalism.
