Another $195 million would partially fund the construction of a 2,500-bed jail with a processing/evaluation center and medical facility. Other big-ticket items include $80 million for a forensic center and $70 million for a family law center.
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD voters are being asked to approve $807 million in bonds, the majority of which will be used to build 14 new schools in this rapidly growing district. The bond proposal also includes funding for school upgrades and new buses. Approximately $68 million is earmarked for technology purchases such as network equipment, computers, software and printers.
Houston Independent School District
The bond issue for HISD, Texas's largest school district, proposes funding for 22 new schools and renovations at 128 campuses. The district also is focused on improving school safety, requesting $90 million for new video security camera systems, fencing, lighting and other upgrades.
Spring Branch Independent School District
Spring Branch ISD, located in Houston, is asking voters to approve a $597 million bond proposal that would replace some of the district's oldest campuses, including 12 elementary schools built between 1938 and 1967. Other proposals include classroom additions to accommodate growth, heating and air conditioning system upgrades, safety and security, technology infrastructure and computers, electrical and plumbing systems, buses and athletic projects.
Fort Worth Independent School District
The $593.6 million Fort Worth ISD bond program proposes renovations for all district schools. Also, six new schools would be built and 122 new classrooms would be added to eight school campuses. Other, non-construction related proposals include technology, buses, vehicles, uniforms and instruments.
