According to Jack Colley, chief of the Governor's Division of Emergency Management, the areas of greatest risk for flooding over the next 24-48 hours are along and south of a line from Laredo to Waco to Palestine to Beaumont. Rainfall of 1-3 inches can be expected, and in some isolated areas rainfall of up to 6-8 inches is possible.
In San Antonio at the Martindale Airfield, 30 Texas Military Forces personnel, 10 military vehicles and three HH-60 Blackhawk helicopters equipped with hoists have been pre-positioned and at Camp Mabry in Austin, 30 Texas Military Forces personnel and 10 military vehicles are on standby.
Parts of the state are still recovering from floods caused by more than 40 days of rain that left rivers and lakes swollen. Numerous dams across the Central Texas area had floodgates opened, causing damages downstream.
