Tier II funding in Texas includes $21 million for the Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington area, $6.75 million for San Antonio and $5.8 million for El Paso. These funds are provided directly to these metropolitan areas.
The funding for the Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington area represents an increase of 51 percent over last year's allocation. The San Antonio metro area allocation is also up 51 percent from last year. This year marks the first time for the El Paso area to receive UASI funding.
SHSP funding for FY 2007 will provide $509.3 million to states to support the implementation of state homeland security strategies and build capabilities at the state and local levels. Texas will receive $34.4 million, up from $26.1 million in FY 2006.
LETPP funds provide resources to local law enforcement and public safety agencies to support terrorism prevention activities, such as establishing and enhancing fusion centers. For FY 2007, Texas will receive $24.6 million of the $363.8 million available to states and territories.
