The Port Security Grant Program provides funding to port areas for the protection of critical port infrastructure from terrorism. The Houston-Galveston port area in Harris County was awarded $32.3 million in funding from this program. The Port of Corpus Christi Authority received $6.9 million, the Port of Freeport received $3.4 million, the Sabine-Neches River port area in Jefferson County received $6.9 million and the Brownsville Navigation District port area in Brownsville received $3.1 million.
The Intercity Bus Security Grant Program provides awards to operators of fixed route intercity and charter bus companies serving one or more defined Urban Areas Security Initiative jurisdictions. Grant funding of $450,000 went to CUSA, LLC and another $3.5 million went to Greyhound Lines, Inc. Star Shuttle and Charter, Inc., was awarded $46,410.
Texas was awarded $4.2 million in funding from the Buffer Zone Protection Program that provides grant funding for security and risk-management at the state and local levels for critical infrastructure sites such as chemical facilities, financial institutions, nuclear and electric power plants, dams, stadiums, and other high-risk/high-consequence facilities.
