Fort Bliss at El Paso garnered the majority of the Texas funding because thousands of new troops and their families are coming to Fort Bliss over the next several years. Billions of dollars worth of construction are planned on the base as an entire division from Germany moves to the El Paso facility.
The three Texas facilities will see improvements from roof repair and replacement to barracks updates to utility and energy-related upgrades.
This latest round of funding is in addition to a March announcement of $2.3 billion for new construction projects including two major hospitals - one at Fort Hood.
