More than $288.5 million in GSA funds head to Texas

. . . continued from page one

Limited scope projects can include building tune-ups, minor system repairs, equipment replacement, lighting control systems, HVAC retrofit or replacement, renewable energy generation and water conservation.

In addition to new construction and renovation of some federal buildings, some of the money also will be spent to convert existing federal buildings into high-performance "green" buildings.

The GSA has announced spending programs in all 50 of the states and the District of Columbia.

More than $170.3 million will be spent in Texas for full or partial green building modernizations. Some $109 million of that will be spent on the G.T. Leland federal building in Houston, with the remaining $61.3 million set aside for the Hippolito Garcia U.S. Courthouse in San Antonio.

These projects mostly relate to energy conservation projects and renewable energy generation.
