Appraisal districts to be reviewed by Comptroller

. . . continued from page one

The Property Value Study (PVS) used by the Comptroller to ensure accuracy of local property values reported by school districts for funding purposes will now be checked every other year. Beginning in 2010, for those school districts involved in MAP reviews, local property values reported by the district to the state will be used to determine school funding. Other districts' PVS will determine if local or state-calculated values are used for school funding.

Once the MAP review is completed, CADs will receive a report and will have one year to comply with recommendations. Cartwright said the Property Tax Assistance Division will assist CAD by providing them with information, tools and resources necessary to improve their operations.
