- Emergency Operations Centers for Brazoria County Emergency Management ($100,000), the City of Boerne ($250,000), Johnson County ($750,000) and Middle Rio Grande Development Council ($1 million);
- $200,000 for a visitor's center in Bastrop;
- $650,000 for an upgrade to the Waco Police Department's radio system that is used by approximately 25 local law enforcement and emergency response agencies;
- $1 million for Texas State University at San Marcos for nursing equipment purchase and nursing curriculum development;
- $10.8 million for a Family Life Center at Fort Hood at Killeen;
- $12.2 million for headquarters for the 407th Army Field Support Brigade in Bryan, which provides logistical support to Fort Hood;
- $10.125 million for a National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center at Texas A&M University;
- $1.2 million for apron construction at the San Marcos Municipal Airport;
- $18.4 million to Goodfellow Air Force Base to plan and design a joint intelligence training facility; $14 million for a student dorm and $12 million for a new learning center; and
- $100,000 for a surveillance system and upgrades around a City of McGregor industrial area.
These are only a portion of the earmarks sought by members of the Texas congressional delegation. The funding that will flow to Texas will create thousands of contracting opportunities in 2010. Government contractors would be wise to track the funds as they head to the Lone Star State.
