Texas voters approve $3.8 billion in bond funding

      . . . continued from page one
      • Round Rock Independent School District voters approved $294 million in school bonds to address growth. Proposition 1 includes funding for new elementary schools, land, technology upgrades, buses and a new transportation facility. Proposition 2 provides funding for high school additions and renovations, safety and security improvements, science/fine arts additions and infrastructure projects. Round Rock ISDs bond initiative was the largest school bond in Texas and third largest overall after Parkland Hospital and Denton County.
      • City of Arlington residents passed all five of their bond propositions. Collectively, the propositions will provide $141 million to fund capital improvement program projects such as parks, road improvements, library improvements, fire facilities and storm drainage and flood control facilities.

Bond proposals failed for Weatherford College, the Town of Addison, Brazoria County, Smith County and a handful of school districts across the state. On the whole, school bond elections fared considerably better than tax rollback elections, which only passed at about a 50 percent rate.
