With nearly three decades of experience in Texas state government, SPI Senior Researcher Nancy L. Smith brings a wealth of government expertise to SPI’s Information Services division.
The final 18 of Nancy’s 28 years with the State of Texas were spent in Information Technology at four state agencies - the Texas Department of Human Services, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Office of the Attorney General and the Texas Education Agency. She has also previously been employed by The University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Independent School District.
With an eye for detail, Nancy has experience in an array of government functions, having been involved in the development of mandated state and federal planning documents and having been responsible for legislative tracking and analysis, contract management and disaster recovery planning. She also has experience in technology planning, project management, business analysis and systems design, research, statistics and reporting, grant writing and crisis intervention.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree from East Texas State University and a master's from The University of Texas at Austin.
