Kirk Yoshida has a long history with SPI. He began his work with the firm in 1999 and was a valuable member of the research and information services team until 2004 when he left to spend a year in Japan. He returned to SPI in September of 2005 as a Senior Research Analyst.
Kirk went to Japan as a participant in the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program. He was placed in rural Japan where he taught English language classes to elementary school, junior high school and adult students. He also had the opportunity to travel throughout Japan and study the Japanese language and culture.
Kirk has numerous talents but he is particularly adept at finding, tracking and analyzing opportunities and issues. He has been with SPI through the building of its numerous databases (which can be queried) and as a result, Kirk is a master at being able to surround any issue or opportunity with historical data, budget information, legislative activity, vendor competitive analysis, political implications and relevant information about infrastructure.
Prior to joining SPI, Kirk held a number of different positions in the public sector. He worked for the City of Austin, the Railroad Commission of Texas and the Texas Department of Transportation.
Kirk holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine and has also attended the master's program at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
