After 30 years of working in the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), Gene Gibbons brings to SPI an unparalleled knowledge of the workings of community colleges and higher education. He spent three decades with the DCCCD, most recently as executive vice president and vice president for instruction at the Brookhaven College in the DCCCD. Other positions he has held at Brookhaven include vice president for instruction and student services, dean for Social and Behavioral Sciences and dean of Continuing Education and Evening Programs.
Gene also has been a faculty member, teaching in the Integrated Studies Program and distance-education courses. He was vice president for instruction at the Eastfield College campus of DCCCD. He was named Administrator of the Year for both the DCCCD and Brookhaven College. He has also worked extensively with K-12 public schools to establish dual-credit and tech-prep courses on the public school campuses.
Gene holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oklahoma.
